PRIDE
Oba 1:3 The pride of your
heart has deceived you, dwelling in the clefts of the rock, his
dwelling is lofty; saying in his heart, Who shall bring me down
to the ground?
Oba 1:4 Though you rise high like the eagle, and though you set
your nest between the stars, I will bring you down from there,
says Jehovah.
Pride is always at the heart of deception. It is what caused
Lucifer to rebel against God. It is what causes us to rebel
against God. And no matter how high we think we may be, if this
is not the place that God wants us to be,. Guess what? "I
will bring you down from there, says Jehovah."
Psa 73:6 Therefore pride is their necklace; violence covers them
as a garment.
Pro 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit
before a fall.
When we live in pride it get in our pores, our veins. Our very
essence is polluted. It leeches into our brains and spirit and
tries to take away any Godly character we might have had before.
We need to walk humbly before our God. For if we are meek we
shall truly prosper. (Psa 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the
earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. )
Pro 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and
arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and
the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the
Father, but is of the world.
Pride is the very first thing that Lucifer taught. Possibly his
first lie. Is this something we as Christians want to live with?
I think not. Fight pride with all of your heart. Be humble
followers of Jesus.
Heavenly Father we pray to You for the strenghth to overcome
pride. To let ourselves rest in your Holy arms. To give up this
need for power and control we seem to have. May the Holy Spirit
grant us the wisdom we need to make the right choices . In our
realations to non- believers. In relations with our Brother and
Sisters in Christ. And most definately in our relations with You,
the Holy and mighty God. Grant us a wonderful peace, in our
hearts, in our minds. and in our soul.
We ask this in Jesus Holy name.
Amen.
IHS,
Reverend Richard Arrigoni
